Further Introductions…

Naan Oh is an extention of the me from ‘first life’, she was born February 7, 2007 at 8:59 pm. She was born naked "in world" and healthy. It took only 4 or 5 logins before she was able to fly and more importantly - land! Not that she’d suffer any injuries (other than my pride!) For the first time tonight Naan Oh meet a stranger. His name was Raw Chaffeemoticon, she became virtually uncomfortable after he asked her age and even more spooky, where she lives! I guess it’s not really that strange but, Naan Oh thought so.

Afterwards, Naan Oh teleported to China town… The bottle of Baijiu remained full. Not the slightest desire to try any of that the nasty Chinese rice wine. In fact, Naan Oh doesn’t need to eat or drink - that’s why she’s thinner than I am in reality!

After all the adventures of the night, I must go horizontal now for some snooze time. I imagine Naan Oh will remain on (or near) the barrell until I return.

The Naan Oh Exemption

Naan Oh is an avatar that looks like me, well kind of. When I am online she represents me, so I guess in a way she is me. I confess, ‘avatar’ is a word that I only learned about a year ago. Naan Oh didn’t have to file taxes this year but I did. In fact I had a messy tax situation that was straggling from 2002 (pre-China) and now 2006. I often got overwhelmed when I attempted to figure out the best way to juggle the figures and facts until I finally made the wise decision to swallow my pride and hire an account. It was by far one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! There was so much I would have missed, and we were plesently surprised. Now we can afford to buy land in SL all we need to do is have some Cnd $ converted into Linden $. Master G has an avatar too, his name is How Rau. Naan and How are going to build a 3D online environment. Finally a dream home, indoor pool, and Japanese gardens… don’t worry, you’re invited to the house warming once it’s all done.

What does any of this mean? Do you know… do I even know??

Unlike me Naan Oh can sleep standing up. Things can happen all around her when she’s sleeping and nothing but me and a password wake her -  lucky girl!

My Real Reality - my life

in mid-air

Times like this with my family are of pure happiness. It’s not until the day is done and all are then tucked in their beds, before I turn too much of my attention here in cyber.  Today was Earth Day and a lot of it we spent outside away from all the hums and white noise of our house. Blissful! Well, after uploading to flickr, checking my email, and facebook, it’s time to power down. I confess, tonight feels more like a good ol’ fashioned book than to be stuck here aimless. At this point with my knowledge of computers I still find myself wasting too much time here. I’m just not using it right. There is so much more than meets the eye. My little ones enjoyed the outdoors very much today and I enjoyed being a part of it with them. Time well spent. Master G is still at it, putting together an online presentation for Sloodle. First I should start by explaing that "Moodle is a course management system (CMS) - a free Open Source software package designed to help educators create effective online courses.." So, within Secondlife ("Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 5,790,280 people from around the globe.") Master G is working at creating a presentation for moodle in Secondlife, which is refered to as Sloodle. Education is changing in a wave of technological growth. It’s very exciting and very much on the dawn of it’s birth and G is there to usher it in! The furture looks bright - lets rise to the challange.

Confession # 1

It’s Friday night and here I am with my laptop and Master G. (A.K.A. How Rau in Secondlife) with his laptop sitting next to me. First step… learning a bit of CSS style - gotta start somewhere!

The Thought Machine

I must confess, I am intimidated by this progression of technology yet I think it is highly beneficial. Less paper, less time,  less risk and, by this I mean much more than those simple words. I teetered on the edge of throwing in the bag, so to speak, with computers all together (no googling, stumbling, blogging, etc) but after lengthy discussions with the Master I decided to challenge something that scares me - learning and understanding the world of technology.

I am Naan Oh of Secondlife. I celebrate life in two worlds now - virtual and reality. Like all other decisions I have to decide what is important in dividing my time between here and there.
